Things to Do

I will post things which are worthwhile undertaking in the fight against the HS2 development on this page.

Entries will change or be added to from time to time.

1. Sign the e-petition and get your friends and relatives to do so.  It needs 23,000 signatures to get parliament to act.

2. Start the Exceptional Hardship Fund claim process even if you don't claim.  You can ask for an information pack anyway.  It will take up to 20 days for them to reply so they say.  The claim consultation ends on 29 April 2013.  You must fill in the consultation document and send it in even if you are not going to claim.  Your comments may help others get a better compensation.

Your comments may help to improve the main scheme when it comes in to effect in 2016.

The HHS Scheme Leaflet

THe documents say that this is a 'Discretionary Scheme'.  Why? It is our houses which have lost value at their decision.  Surely this should be a mandatory compensation scheme.  In your response make sure you answer every question with further comments and or further questions.  Complain about the absense of communication about the scheme.  To date (Feb 20th) we have received no official communication about the scheme.  It is only this and other sites and meetyings which have alerted us to it.  This is NOT acceptable.  Tell the DFT and your MP and others.  This scheme is to end in 2016.  Will it be replaced?  The Phase 2 will not have been started by then, we will still be blighted and not able to sell our houses at the market value on 20 Jan 2013.

Complain about it.  The scheme should have been in place before the route was announced.  It should not be under consultation after it.  It does not state how far away from the route the scheme will apply.  We need to argue that all along the route should be compensated not those just compulsory purchased.  The government should have a property bond scheme so that people can move on if they want or need to sell.  Why should we be blighted for their decision?
