I have been reading about the West Coast Main Line and its interaction with HS2. This has provoked an interesting concern. HS2 is only two tracks, unlike the WCML. Tracks need maintenance and especially those where trains run at 225 mph. Those of us know about the maintenance work that takes place most nights on the WCML.
One commentator on the article I was reading http://gohs2.wordpress.com/2012/12/13/the-challenge-of-maintaining-the-west-coast-main-line/ , the reference being near the botom of the web page, suggests that the HS2 line will be closed each night to maintain the track. This has never been raised before. If anyone can enlighten me I would be grateful.
