It is well worth while asking HS2 questions about the proposed development. They indicate that the information provided is under the 'freedom of information act'. Hence I suggest that we can ask all sorts of questions which include how they have come to conclusions. Challenge them ask awkward questions.
If you ask HS2 questions please post or email to this site and their response when it arrives. It will keep all informed.
I have emailed HS2 Ltd the following question:
Noise Levels, power consumption and stopping
distances of HS2 Trains
Please can you provide me, or point me to, information
regarding the anticipated noise levels of HS2 trains.
Could the information be provided as dB levels at 125, 250,
500 and 1000 meters from the track for:
·
A train travelling at maximum speed at ground
level
·
Two trains passing each travelling at maximum
speed at ground level
·
A train travelling at maximum speed on an
embankment say 20m high
·
Two trains passing each travelling at maximum
speed on an embankment say 20m high
Could you in addition provide a comparison with the trains
travelling at their highest speed on the West Coast Main Line.
Could you also provide me, or point me to, with the
anticipated power consumption of a high speed train fully laden. And what
the overall power consumption would be for a fully populated track.
For comparison purposes the similar figures for the 125
trains on the West Coast Main line would be appreciated.
Finally could you please provide me with the anticipated
acceleration distances and times for a fully laden HS2 train to reach maximum
speed and the anticipated stopping distance for such a train.
Their initial email response is as follows:
Thank you for your request for information. We are treating this as an
Environmental Information Regulations request and will reply by 13th
March 2013.
Complaint to the ASA about HS2 Adverts
I was watching Midlands Today tonight and saw for the Nth time the animation of HS2. It looks wonderful. However it is wrong. I have sent a complaint off to the ASA about it. We will see what their response is. If you want to join in just google ASA complaint and follow the instructions. it is simple.
Here it is:
ASA complaint re HS2
The representation of HS2 does NOT include any
representation of the gantry's which carry the power, they are 8m high and
spaced approximately 50m along the track and the power wires along the track.
There is also no representation of the power stations and
sub stations which are spaced every 20km and 5km respectively.
This is a total misrepresentation of the visual impact that
HS2 will have on the environment. It
looks wonderful in the mock up. It will
not be the case in reality. As HS2 Ltd
is a company it should be stopped in misrepresentation.
